Highlights of the U6 Program (born 2005-2006)

·        Each session (once per week) will be a combination of skill development drills and a small sided game.

·        There will be a U6 Coordinator who will assist the coaches with the practice drills.

·        Drills will focus on the players getting many touches on the ball and developing the basic soccer skills of  ball control, passing and shooting.

·        A new drop down net will divide the field in half.  This will be used during the games so that two games can occur simultaneously and use the entire half of the field and one of the goals.  The second goal area will be marked on the drop down net.  The boards will be in play.  The game will help develop an understanding of field positioning and the rules of indoor soccer.

·        Team size targets will be adjusted from year to year in order to optimize player development with this new format.

·        The coaches will assist on the field during the games.

ALL U6/U8 PLAYERS
will meet their coach in an assigned change room 30 minutes prior to their field time. The change rooms will be locked during field time to secure the players belongs (coats and boots etc).
During field time, the new drop down net will divide the field in half, allowing for a truer game play. The team bench will be shared, and must be monitored by parent volunteers. (please talk to your coach if you wish to help out!).

Parents are required to watch the game from the bleachers above the pitch. Only players and team volunteers will be allowed on the pitch or in the walk way along the change rooms during soccer.
